Two woods. You choose.
Most furniture brands decide the wood for you — and rarely tell you what’s underneath the finish. We do it differently. Every Karni Wood piece is offered in two solid hardwoods, and you pick which one at the time of order. Premium teak, or honest sheesham. Both solid wood, both built by the same hands, to the same standard. The only difference is the wood itself — so here’s everything you need to choose well.
Teak (Sagwan)
Teak – the flagship.
Teak, known locally as sagwan, is the wood heirlooms are made from. Its natural oils make it famously resistant to water, termites, and time — the reason teak has been the first choice for fine furniture for centuries. The grain is straight and fine, a warm golden-brown that only deepens and grows richer with age. It’s heavier, harder, and more expensive than almost any other furniture wood, and worth every rupee for pieces you intend to keep for life. This is our premium tier: dining tables, beds, anything you want to outlive you.
Sheesham – the honest heirloom.
Sheesham — Indian rosewood — is teak’s honest counterpart. Hard, dense, and durable, with a bold, dramatic grain that no two pieces ever share, so every item is genuinely one of a kind. It carries deep brown tones with reddish undertones that make it striking in any room. It’s lighter on the budget than teak, but makes zero compromise on what matters: it’s solid wood, built the same careful way. This is the accessible way into furniture that lasts decades, not seasons.
Sheesham
One promise, whichever you choose.
Teak or sheesham, the promise underneath never changes: solid wood, never MDF, never particle board, never an engineered core dressed up to look like the real thing. Built to order, finished by hand, made to be handed down.
